Course Description
Our ACLS certification course is designed to provide the knowledge and skills needed to assess and manage the first 10 minutes of a ventricular fibrillation/ventricular tachycardia arrest.
Students are expected to learn to manage 10 core ACLS cases, a respiratory emergency, four types of cardiac arrests (simple VF/VT, complex VF/VT, PEA, and asystole), four types of pre-arrest emergencies (bradycardia, stable tachycardia, unstable tachycardia and acute coronary syndromes), and stroke (cerebrovascular accident).
ACLS Course Content
- Learn about airway management.
- Learn about related pharmacology.
- Learn recognition and early management of peri-arrest conditions.
- Learn recognition and early management of respiratory and cardiac arrest.
- Learn about the management of acute coronary syndromes (ACS) and stroke.
- Learn about effective communication as a member/leader of a resuscitation team.
- Learn basic life support skills, including effective chest compressions, use of a bag-mask device and use of an AED (automated external defibrillator).
- Identify key changes in advanced cardiovascular life support (2015 American Heart Association Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care).
